SEO - What is SEO?

5/09/2007

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for short is viewed by others as an essential part of website creation, but Shongaks... Thinks...

... Search Engine Optimization is just a way of improving those bagging rights you have over another webmaster. It may be what everyone is doing but, before you should try and get into what others think is as simple as editing your blog titles, your meta tags or link building all the way.

It is a tiring job. I know this although I am not a SEO Guru or something, I just learn it by reading a couple of tutorials on the topic. It plain and simple, before getting into SEO, you MUST have:

  • done a lot of researches which includes Keywords, possibility of generating money off your site, a little of programming and much more.
  • got a lot of friends who has high PageRank (PR) for an easier inclusion on major Search Engines.
  • have a lot of time to compose your posts.
  • thought of a good topic based on your targeted audience and keywords.
  • your own DOMAIN NAME! (it is a must!)
  • read a lot of different tutorials on SERPs, SEO, SEM, etc. which all point to the same methods.
  • a fast typer! (Some may not point this out, but if you type with one finger only, better brush up on your typing skill, because being able to type faster would mean you can create an article faster.)
Those are but few of the qualifications to get your site Search Engine Optimized.

In my own opinion, getting a couple of basics would be better, start with getting keywords on your content, edit the title tags to be SE-friendly, start building traffic by link exchanges and providing your audience with a good reading material.

That should be your start. A couple of more things that are a little bit more complex than what others say that it isn't

VB.NET Employee Information System

4/18/2007

Shongak Thinks...

Since I have started uploading this things I consider junk because they are kinda clogging my hard drive space, I might as well continue...

Well, this one is a VB.NET Employee Information System, which is basically an Information system doubled up as a Login-Logout system, which incidentally was considered program of mine with a clean interface by the instructor I was submitting the system to.

I might quite agree with him because of all the systems I created this one took me weeks of creating. Why? Because, I was now on programming my thesis when I started with this one. I thought I would not finish it on time, but I actually done it ahead of time and the results of a couple of sleepless nights was fruitful.

It has a code documentation, a cleaner interface than the first program I uploaded and faster. Although I wasn't able to create a report for it because I wanted to submit it and go on with my thesis.

Download it here.

And if you liked or want to use it (as a system or copy some parts of it), you may do so, just don''t forget to give some credits on what you have copied and/or leave a comment.

Thank you!

VB.NET Subject Evaluation free download

4/16/2007

Shongaks Thinks...

After graduating this year, i could finally upload some of my programmed requirements in school. I have a lot of "garbage" software in my computer so might as well, upload it to the net and let others learn from them. I can't possible make a tutorial in creating the whole software because my blogs are taking a lot off my time, so I have uploaded it to several websites...

My first uploaded work is entitled PSU Subject Evaluation System, an end-term requirement for a subject (Database Design and Implementation). It does not have nice user interface but it does the work.. Maybe one of this days, I would update it and give it an interface boost!

I created it in VB.NET 2003 since I still didn't have the express version. The database connection is OLEDB using Access database... The code is not well documented since I just zipped it up and uploaded it. I will share a more documented version of it in the coming days...
